Pallidus is a privately-owned investment banking firm founded in 2015. The founders were Stephan van der Walt, JD Symington, Le Roux van Zyl and Johann Enslin. From great ideas and small beginnings in JD’s dining room, the business developed into a diversified investment banking business with an amazingly talented team who can integrate various technical disciplines including general business, legal, regulatory, accounting, tax and common business sense whilst being able to deal with the complexities of people.

The name Pallidus is attributable to Dr Henry Symington (one of the company’s seed funders), a radiologist by profession. The globus pallidus is part of a complex structure in the brain called the basal ganglia. The basal ganglia coordinate with other structures in the brain to plan and implement goal-oriented behaviours. The main function of the globus pallidus is to control and regulate conscious movements. The globus pallidus is involved amongst others in the constant subtle regulation of movement that allows people to walk and engage in a wide variety of other activities with a minimal level of disruption.

To Pallidus, the globus pallidus is very relevant as we consciously assist our clients in moving forward to achieve their goals in an effective manner. We strive to do this in a manner which enables our clients to continue with what they are great at by delivering on our mandate with a minimal level of disruption.
